Oxytetracycline

• Class: Tetracycline derivative
• Action: It act as bacteriostatic antibiotic and inhibit protein synthesis by reversibly binding to 30S ribosomal subunits of susceptible organisms, thereby preventing binding to those ribosomes of aminoacyl transfer-RNA. It is also believed to reversibly bind to 50S ribosomes and additionally alter cytoplasmic membrane permeability in susceptible organisms. In high concentrations, it can also inhibit protein synthesis by mammalian cells.

Staphylococcus Streptococci, Actinomyces, Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium, Listeria monocytogenes, Nocardia, Bordetella, Brucella, Bartonella, Haemophilus, Pasturella, Shigella, Yersinia, E. coli, Klebsiella, Erysipelothrix, Corynebacterium, Salmonella, Vibrio, Leptospira, Theileria, Ehrlichia
• Indications: HS, BQ, Anthrax, pneumonia, enteritis, genito urinary tract infections, wound infections, mastitis, brucellosis, CCBP, enterotoxemia, strangles, joint ill, Swine erysipelas, scours, leptospirosis, atrophic rhinitis, rickettsiosis, RTI, GI infections, CRD, coryza, fowl cholera, blue comb
