Phenyl butazone

  • Class: Pyrazolone derivative NSAID
  • Action: It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antipyrexic, and mild uricosuric properties. It acts by the inhibition of cyclooxygenase, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis.
  • Indications: Inflammatory conditions associated with the musculoskeletal system, Pyrexia
  • Precautions: Contraindicated in cats due to high toxicity
  • Dosage:          
                 Cattle, Buffalo: 1-5 mg/kg
                 Horse: 1-2 g/ 450 kg Total dose daily
                 Dog: 22 mg/ kg Total dose daily   
  • BUTASYL               Neospark
             ( Phenylbutazone IP : 200 mg + Sodium Salicylate IP: 20 mg) /ml

                Dosage:               IM, IV
            Cattle, Buffalo, Horse, Camel: 20-30 ml for first 2 days followed by half the dose on subsequent days.
            Sheep, Goats, Foal, Calf and Pigs: 5-10 ml for first 2 days followed by half the dose on subsequent days.
