- Class: Semi-synthetic tetracycline
- Action: It act as bacteriostatic agent and inhibit protein synthesis by reversibly binding to 30S ribosomal subunits of susceptible organisms, thereby preventing binding to those ribosomes of aminoacyl transfer-RNA. Tetracyclines also are believed to reversibly bind to 50S ribosomes and additionally alter cytoplasmic membrane permeability in susceptible organisms.
- Anti bacterial spectrum: Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Actinomyces sp., Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium perfringens and tetani, Listeria monocytogenes, Bordetella sp., Brucella, Bartonella, Haemophilus sp., Pasturella multocida, Shigella,Yersinia pestis
- Indications: RT infections, HS, septicaemia, BQ, anthrax, bacterial enteritis, foot rot, wound infections, pneumonia, UT infections, leptospirosis, haemoprotozoan infections.
- Dosage: Oral
Cattle, sheep, Goat: 1-2 mg/kg
Dog, Cat: 5 - 10 mg/kg
Prevention: 1 gm/ litre of drinking water for 3 to 5 days
Treatment: 2 gm/ litre of drinking water for 4 to 5 days
